The rules for using YOUDOWN. Plain English, because you should be able to read them.
Last updated August 2026
Draft for review. This document describes how YOUDOWN actually works and is written to be readable, not to be final. It has not been reviewed by counsel — have a lawyer licensed in Florida check it before launch.
You must be 18 or older to use YOUDOWN. You need one account, under your real name, with a face that matches the person in your videos.
Browsing is open to anyone with the app. Applying to a moment or hosting one requires verification — a selfie liveness check at minimum, and a government ID for some moments. If you fail verification or we can't confirm you're a real person, you keep read-only access.
When you post a moment you are making a commitment to real people who are going to rearrange their Saturday for it. Specifically, you agree that:
You choose your own crew. You can accept or pass on anyone for any reason that isn't an illegal one — you may not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Repeatedly cancelling, no-showing, or hosting moments that don't exist will cost you hosting access.
You apply by recording video answers to the host's questions. Applying is not a booking — the host decides, and they may say no without giving a reason.
If you're accepted, you're expected to turn up. Attendance is recorded by the host after the event, and a pattern of no-shows will limit which moments you can apply to.
Free accounts can send a limited number of applications per day. The cap exists so hosts can read what they receive.
The full list is in our community guidelines, and it's part of these terms. The short version: YOUDOWN is for doing things with people, not for dating, soliciting, selling, or recruiting. Treat a stranger's Saturday with the same care you'd want for yours.
At launch, seats on YOUDOWN are free and no money moves through the app. Hosts may tell you a moment has a real-world cost — a court fee, a dinner bill, a boat charter — and you settle that between yourselves, in person. YOUDOWN is not party to that arrangement and doesn't hold or transfer it.
Optional paid features (Moments AI, boosts) are billed through the App Store or Google Play and follow their refund rules.
When paid seats launch we'll update these terms and tell you before the change takes effect. Our refunds and cancellations policy describes how that will work.
Your videos are yours. You keep ownership of everything you record.
You give us permission to store your videos, show them to the people they're meant for, and process them to run the service — including automated checks for safety and, if you've turned it on, Moments AI. That's the whole licence. We do not use your videos in advertising or marketing without asking you separately and specifically.
Your host video is visible to anyone browsing that moment. Your application videos are visible only to that moment's host. Neither is downloadable in the app, and screen-recording someone else's tape to share it elsewhere is grounds for removal.
Application videos are deleted after the moment happens, or 30 days after a decision, whichever comes first.
Moments AI is an optional paid feature. It suggests moments you might like and helps hosts sort applications, including summarising what someone said on tape.
It never makes the decision. A human host accepts or passes on every applicant. Where a host has turned on auto-accept, they've set that threshold themselves and remain responsible for the outcome.
Suggestions are suggestions. They're generated from patterns, they can be wrong, and nothing in them is a guarantee about any person or event.
YOUDOWN helps people find each other and agree on a plan. We are not the organiser, the venue, or a chaperone. Everything that happens once you leave the app is between you and the people you met.
We verify identity, we act on reports, and we remove people who behave badly. We do not run background checks on every member, we don't supervise moments, and we can't guarantee anyone's conduct. Use the same judgment you'd use meeting anyone new — the safety centre has specifics.
To the fullest extent the law allows, YOUDOWN is provided as-is and our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
You can delete your account at any time from the You tab. Deletion removes your profile, your videos and your history, and it's permanent.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines. Where we can explain why, we will.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
