What we collect, why we need it, and what we never do with it.

Draft for review. This document describes how YOUDOWN actually works and is written to be readable, not to be final. It has not been reviewed by counsel — have a lawyer licensed in Florida check it before launch.
Four things, and nothing we don't need:
This is the part worth reading carefully, because video is the centre of the product.
The liveness check compares your selfie video to your ID photo to confirm you're a real person and the same person. That comparison is run by our identity verification partner, not by us. They return a yes or no and we store the result and the date — we do not receive or keep a face template, and we don't run face recognition across the app.
Your host and application videos are stored encrypted. They're scanned automatically for prohibited content. If you've enabled Moments AI, your application videos are also transcribed so the feature can summarise them for hosts — you can turn that off, and turning it off stops the transcription.
YOUDOWN is a local app, so location matters. We use it to show you moments near you and to put a pin on the map.
We use approximate location, not precise tracking. We do not log your location in the background, and we don't build a history of where you've been. A moment's exact address is shown to confirmed guests, not to everyone browsing.
Other members see your profile, your host videos, your rating and your past public moments. Hosts you apply to see your application videos and profile. Nobody sees your application video except the host of that moment.
Service providers — identity verification, video storage, push notifications, crash reporting, payment processing for paid features. They're contractually limited to doing the job we hired them for.
Law enforcement, when we're legally required to, or when someone's physical safety is at risk.
That's the list. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
You can see, correct, export or delete your data from the You tab, without emailing anyone. Deleting your account deletes your videos.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the CCPA, GDPR or similar laws — including objecting to certain processing. Write to privacy@youdown.app and we'll answer within 30 days.
